Want to present In-Person?
LOCATION: All in-person presentations will take place in the:
- Union Building (Spring Symposium) between 9:00am and 2:30pm (Three - 1.5 hour Sessions)
- Alumni House (Summer Symposium) between 8:30am and 12:00pm (Three 1 hour Sessions)
AUDIENCE: Presentations should be aimed at a general audience — the undergraduate research symposium is an opportunity for students to communicate their research to an audience from a broad range of backgrounds.
PROPER ATTRIBUTION: Scholarly presentations (poster, oral, creative or otherwise) should include proper attribution. This means inclusion of co-authors (order agreed upon by co-authors) and/or include an acknowledgement section to recognize those who have supported the project (i.e., funders, people, etc.). If students are unsure about attribution (authorship or acknowledgements), the Office of Undergraduate Research encourages students to receive feedback from faculty mentors/research team mentors. For students who receive UROP, SPUR, or Travel and Small grants, research acknowledgement may be found here. Download the current OUR Logo here
GROUP PRESENTATIONS: All students who are presenting as a group at the symposia must register individually and list their group members so they will be scheduled together. Any group members who are not presenting at the symposia do not need to register or be listed as a group member on individual registrations.
PRESENTATION TYPES: For the Spring Symposia, students may present their research in the poster, oral, performance or visual arts sessions. To maximize the chance that students will have the opportunity to engage in discussion with attendees about their work, we encourage ALL students to present posters. The Summer Symposium includes only poster presentations.
POSTER PRESENTATIONS

- Poster sessions are held in the Union main ballroom (Spring Symposium) or the Alumni House (Summer Symposium).

-
- Oral presentations will be held in rooms throughout the Union.

- Visual aids should be used if at all possible. A projector and screen/TV will be available — presenters are responsible for bringing a laptop and any necessary adapters.
- Students are strongly advised to ensure proper connection to the projector before the oral session begins.
- Out of professional courtesy, all presenters and audience are expected to stay for the entire session.
