Presentation description
The Not Broken Monologues is a collection of true stories about life with disabilities, told by a cast and creative team who are disabled or chronically ill themselves. These excerpts are the original trio - the first three that were written before the idea of a full script and show came to be - which delves into the playwright's own journey navigating what it meant to become disabled as a teenager. The rest of the stories came from interviews with other members of the disabled and chronically ill community. Tied together by the stages of grief, inspired by the "Spoon Theory" by Christine Miserandino, and with accessible stage directions that channel everything from a group therapy session to an abstract mental space, The Not Broken Monologues is a script that explores what it means to be disabled everything that comes with that.
