The Contribution of CCR2 to Bone Architecture and Immune Response in the Knee Joint During Osteoarthritis Progression

Semester: Fall 2024

Presentation description

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease characterized by inflammation, degradation of articular cartilage, and changes in bone structure. Tissue inflammation is suggested to play an important role in exacerbating many OA and obesity-related complications. The signaling pathway between CCR2 and monocyte chemoattractant proteins MCP is important in mediating OA, but the specific contributions remain unknown. We hypothesize CCR2 depletion in mice will improve their predisposition to OA.
