Presentation description
This research sought to reconstruct sensory experiences from 19th century east Africa, specifically along the Swahili coast, by examining primary sources such as expeditionary records. These records included popularly published accounts which were circulated in Britain contemporaneously, which reveal fascinating insights into what the authors prioritized when promulgating their accounts for the public, among many other things.
