Observing the Link Between Neural Activation Patterns and Motor Performance in Major Depressive Disorder

Semester: Summer 2024

Presentation description

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) affects about 280 millions of people worldwide and has been ranked the third cause of the burden of disease. Previous research has stated that there is an effect of MDD on emotional and cognitive domains but there is limited understanding on motor domains. Our study seeks to look at neural activations patterns during the performance of a grip test (motor task). By looking at these activation patterns in relation to the grip test, we can be able to characterize between the different subtypes of depression.
