Identifying Olfactory Behavior Patterns in Drosophila melanogaster

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

Our research focuses on the mutualistic relationship between Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Drosophila melanogaster. We are using behavioral assays and a variety of fusel alcohol odors produced by S. cerevisiae to investigate how innate behaviors vary among D. melanogaster strains when presented with odor cues. We are then matching molecules of interest with their receptors to identify phenotypes of interest/to begin to identify the neuronal circuitry and genes driving behavior.
