Presentation description
This projects aims to focus on the perceptions of gender, sex, sexuality and gender-affirming care from the perspectives of medical providers and medical educators. There is a burgeoning literature that highlights that health inequalities experienced by LGBTQ individuals can be attributed, in part, to a lack of
provider cultural competence, and, at times, outright hostility. There is a large body of evidence that suggests that gender affirming care is needed, and that many providers need additional education. This project is a way for us to share what's been done and what still needs to be done in the name of queer health advocacy.
