Defining the Role of Focal Adhesion Kinase in Melanoma

Semester: Fall 2023

Presentation description

Melanoma is steadily increasing in incidence and brain metastases are a common cause of treatment failure. The Holmen Lab has previously found focal adhesion kinase (FAK) to be a potential therapeutic target. Using a novel high-throughput mouse model we aim to better understand the direct role of FAK on the promotion of melanogenesis, specifically brain metastases. The results of this study will provide insight into whether FAK could be a therapeutic target to treat melanoma.
