Presentation description

Children who are hard of hearing may experience distorted speech sound development. Bilingual children may also follow a different path of speech sound acquisition while acquiring different sound systems. This study analyzes vowel development of a hard of hearing bilingual child, and tracks vowel production in a two-year period. Acoustic analysis of productions in Spanish and English show evidence of emerging bilingualism with vowel differentiation, and centralization of English vowels.
