Antibiotic Resistance and Virulence in ST131 E.coli – Can Biofilms Explain its Unique Capabilities?

Semester: Fall 2022

Presentation description

ST131 is a pandemic, clonal E. coli population that carries many antibiotic resistance genes at no apparent fitness cost. This project is working on examining the role of biofilms in ST131's spread and using molecular biology techniques to fluorescently tag a plasmid of interest to see if we can track its movement among different strains.
