Project description

In the Speech Acquisition Lab we study the acquisition of second language phonology. We conduct speech perception and word learning experiments designed to examine the factors that affect success in second language learning.

Student Role: Experimenters (collect data from human subjects), coders (work with linguistic data), researchers (develop ideas for research projects)
Student Benefits: Learn to conduct laboratory research in linguistics; learn about ethics of human subjects research; work in a collaborative lab environment
Project Duration: Normally, students work 5-10 hours/week in the lab
