The mentoring approach will combine structured technical guidance with opportunities for independent problem-solving. Early in the program, the student will receive onboarding to the Buckaroo codebase, development environment, and project objectives. Bi-weekly one-on-one meetings will be used to track progress, address technical challenges, and discuss implementation strategies. The student will participate in research group meetings to gain exposure to collaborative research practices and receive feedback from multiple team members. Code reviews will be conducted regularly to ensure code quality and provide constructive feedback. The student will also be encouraged to propose and test their own ideas for improving the system, fostering ownership of their contributions. Mentorship will emphasize developing the student's technical skills, research communication abilities, and confidence in working within a collaborative research software project.
