Title: Professor
College: Mines & Earth Sciences
School / Department: Geology & Geophysics
Mentoring Philosophy:

I am a Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Utah. I grew up in Texas and in Utah, and later attended Carleton College in Minnesota as an undergraduate geology major. I then made my way back West for graduate school at Stanford University with Steve Graham, doing research on Cretaceous rift basins in southern Mongolia. I came back 'home' to the University of Utah in 2003.

I am active in basin analysis research, including clastic sequence stratigraphy, facies analysis, petroleum geology, basin modeling, and sedimentation and tectonics.
