Effects of Increasing Sleep Duration on CRP Levels, Insulin Sensitivity, and Blood Pressure in Adults with Habitual Insufficient Sleep

Semester: Fall 2023

Presentation description

About a third of the US adult population reports receiving short sleep. Habitually receiving short sleep is linked to health issues such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. The exact mechanisms behind these associations are not fully understood, so further research on these associations is necessary to inform interventions to prevent chronic diseases. This study examines CRP, insulin sensitivity, and blood pressure in short sleepers before and after sleep extension.
