A Solution to Torsion Deformities in Children: The Torsional External Fixator

Semester: Spring 2023

Presentation description

The Torsional External Fixator (TEF) is a device that will correct torsional deformities in the long bones of children without the use of osteotomies. This project was focused on the prototyping and automation of the device. A motor and battery were found, and integration with the rings was designed. Verification testing was performed on the battery to ensure it satisfied user needs. This is the first prototype, and will be refined and tested to be ready to help children in the future.
