Dr. Fukushima is the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Director for the Office of Undergraduate Research. She is a 2023 TRIC Lead Fellow working on intersectionality with faculty and graduate student fellows and initiatives led by the School for Cultural & Social Transformation.

Her research related to her leadership role has focused on addressing inequities in research in higher education through fostering a multi-mentor model. She is currently working on implementing the evaluation of undergraduate research at the University of Utah. Additionally has been leading efforts to grow diversity in STEM fields fostering state-wide partnerships.
