I encourage my students to have a firm understanding of cancer metabolism and how it integrates with the broader tenets of cell and molecular biology, to formulate bold and creative hypotheses and to design and perform robust and well-controlled experiments to put these hypotheses to test. My goal as a mentor is to help my students grow and develop their own voice as scientists, to empower them to ask questions and to emphasize the value of curiosity and the joy of discovery.
