RESEARCH INTERESTS

Applying micro/nanotechnology and engineering methods to life science and health care applications.  Specific areas of interest in applied research:

  • Point of care diagnostics in resource limited settings, identifying the needs of the community and developing relevant highly sensitive detection methodologies for “real world” deployment.
  • Titanium-oxide nanotubes for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) detection for disease diagnosis
  • Resistive Pulse Sensing for electronic diagnosis of diseases (multi-species malaria detection)
  • Microtechnology for stem cell analysis (i.e. label-free biomarker screening and cell sorting)

Additional Areas of Interest:

  • Energy generation using nanomaterials and microfluidics
  • Soilid-State radiation detection
