Gas-Solid Synthesis of Uranium Trichloride using Ammonium Chloride

Semester: Summer 2024

Presentation description

Uranium Trichloride is a potential candidate for Molten Chloride Fast Reactors (MCFR). This is an innovative method to produce green energy. Being that uranium trichloride is essential to the function of MCFR's, the creation of it is vital. This research aims to study the most efficient synthesis method of uranium trichloride by heating solid uranium and subliming ammonium chloride while varying temperatures and concentrations of various species in the flow gas.
