The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate student to join our team as an Undergraduate Research Leader (URL) specializing in Institutional Review Board (IRB) support. This role plays a critical rolein the ethical research practices among undergraduate researchers at the University of Utah.

Student Role: As an Undergraduate Research Leader (URL) specializing in Institutional Review Board (IRB) support, you will play a crucial role in promoting ethical research practices at the University of Utah. Your responsibilities will include completing IRB onboarding, attending IRB meetings, and contributing to IRB reviews. Additionally, you will host bi-monthly IRB Lab sessions and provide peer-mentoring support during weekly research advising hours. To further enhance research ethics awareness, you will coordinate social media content and participate in educational outreach activities. This URL role is also an integral part of the OUR team, attending regular team meetings and contributing effectively to the team's goals.

Project Duration: Spring 2025 Semester – Spring 2026 semester. We are seeking a student who can work for a minimum of three semesters, starting Spring 2025.

Paid Description:

$15 per hour; 10 hours per week.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Matriculated undergraduate student at the University of Utah in good academic standing.
    Enrolled (part-time or full-time) during Spring 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026 semesters.
  • Prior participation in UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) or SPUR (Student Publication and Research) for at least one semester (preferred).
  • Preference given to 2nd and 3rd year students with experience in research ethics or IRB processes.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and Umail for communication and task management.
