Effect of Exercise Training on Recovery From Disuse Atrophy in Aged Mice

Semester: Spring 2023

Presentation description

Aging is associated with a loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength. Mechanistic approaches to enhance muscle recovery in aging are non-existent. The purpose of this study was to characterize the impact of exercise training in aging muscle on physical function and on the local muscle inflammatory profiles and cellular remodeling events, prior to and following recovery from disuse atrophy. These data suggests that exercise training had a positive effect on improving whole body physical function.
