Women and the Cult of Isis in Imperial Rome

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

In this project, I examined cross-cultural interaction between Egypt and Imperial Rome between ca. 100 BCE - 200 CE, and how that may have impacted the developing societal roles of women in Rome. Following the spread of the worship of the Egyptian goddess Isis in particular demonstrates that Egyptian and Roman cultures were in close contact, and allows insight into how they influenced one another.
