When and Where are There PM2.5 Hotspots in Downtown, Salt Lake City?

Semester: Summer 2025

Presentation description

As a center for shopping and commuting, the west downtown Salt Lake City (SLC) draws large daily crowds, making air quality a key concern for public health. PM 2.5, or fine particulate matter, poses serious health risks, especially with
repeated exposure. Understanding where and when these elevated levels occur helps highlight the invisible environmental stressors that
affect people moving through the area. The goal of this project is to investigate when and where PM 2.5 hotspots occur in west downtown Salt Lake City, so as to bring attention to localized air pollution in a highly active part of the city.
