Water Use of Native vs. Invasive Plants in Riparian Zones

Semester: Fall 2024

Presentation description

I compared the ability of native and invasive species to change their phenotype in response to drought stress. I found that invasive species have a more plastic phenotype which allows them to outcompete native species for delicate and important resources like water. This could mean that invasive species might be able to push out natives, decrease biodiversity, drastically change an ecosystem, and contribute to the cascading effects of a changing climate.
