Understanding the Distribution of Ancient Granaries in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

A granary is an architectural structure commonly found at archaeological sites scattered around the Grand Staircase Escelante National Monument. Farmers used these structures as protective vessels for food surpluses. This research aims to explain the variations in granary placement within the Grand Staircase region. I propose that this variation results from a change in defensive strategy over time and can be represented by granaries' placement temporally and spatially.
