Presentation description

The Miller lab's research focuses on understanding the mechanisms surrounding proper chromosome segregation - specifically regarding the tension-sensing properties of the kinetochore-microtubule complex. As a summer intern, I helped to tag ten different proteins within that complex with a protein called PYL, enabling future experiments to be done that place those proteins in proximity with others. I was also able to create a new strain of yeast cells that contain an additional copy of spc105, an essential protein that requires an AID system to be mutated. Over the course of two months, I learned a tremendous amount about microbiology and scientific research, and I'm excited to share my learnings!
