Presentation description
We are investigating the role of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in nerve regeneration following traumatic injuries, using a rapid-stretch injury model. NETs aid in tissue repair and defense against pathogens. The enzyme PAD4 can create excess NET formation causing inflammation and delayed recovery. Using DNAse 1 to breakdown the NETs and PAD4 Knockout to inhibit the NETosis to determine if targeting the NET formation can improve axon regeneration and reduce the neuroma formation.
