Presentation description
This project explored carboxylate esters as the electrolyte in sodium ion batteries for low temperature usage. The state-of-art (SOA) electrolyte typically made out of 1M NaPF6 or NaClO4 as salts and a mix of ethylene carbonate(EC) and linear carbonate as solvents, cannot operate at temperatures lower than 20°C. Methyl Acetate(MA) was chosen as the example electrolyte for its low viscosity and melting point and NaFSI as the salt.
