Presentation description
There are many 'push' factors influencing immigration to the U.S. Scholars and policymakers seek to understand these social, economic, and political forces. My data contain the original home location of people recently (2000-2022) apprehended at irregular southern U.S. border crossings. I use machine learning models that account for collinearity among predictors. My main interest is understanding the human security dimensions of the perilous journey many embark upon.
