Sex Specific Differences in Cardiomyopathies Following the Loss of PRDM16

Semester: Summer 2024

Presentation description

In chromosome 1 deletion syndrome, or 1p36, the gene PRDM16 is deleted. PRDM16 is a transcription factor that, when removed, is associated with cardiomyopathies in both humans and mice. Furthermore, it has been observed that females who lose PRDM16 are twice as likely to develop an earlier and more severe cardiomyopathies than male. My poster focuses on identifying some the sex specific underlying mechanisms that occur when PRDM16 is lost.
