Rodent model of post-traumatic stress disorder differentially alters sociability in male and female mice

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

Post-traumatic stress disorder is an often severe and debilitating mental health condition
affecting approximately 13 million people annually in the United States alone. While only 10%
of people who experience a traumatic event develop PTSD, females are disproportionately
impacted and are 2-3 times more likely to be diagnosed with PTSD than their male
counterparts. This study used a rodent model of trauma to analyze the behavioral differences between male and female mice following trauma.
