Reconstructing the Taos Valley Ice Cap During the Last Glacial Maximum

Semester: Fall 2024

Presentation description

This study reconstructs the Last Glacial Maximum extent of the Taos Valley ice cap using geomorphic mapping and a mass balance glacier model. By integrating LiDAR, PRISM climate data, and numerical modeling, we simulated glacial dynamics to identify the climatic conditions required for ice persistence. Results highlight temperature as the primary driver, with precipitation playing a secondary role, and provide insights into glacier responses to climatic shifts.
