Reconstructing Ice-Age Climates of the Great Basin Using Paleoclimate Proxy Data

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

This study examines prehistoric climate and species response to climate change in the Great Basin during the late Pleistocene. By analyzing fossils from Ladder Cave, researchers reconstruct past ecosystems. Fossils from the cave, some up to 50,000 years old, provide a detailed environmental record. The project involves collecting, washing, and picking sediment, identifying fossils, and using radiocarbon dating to better understand the region's past climate shifts.
