Presentation description
Microplastics are a low-concentration contaminant in wastewater treatment. They accumulate in biosolids, a byproduct of wastewater treatment used as fertilizer and compost. Each year, hundreds of tons of biosolids are applied along the Wasatch Front. This study quantifies microplastic levels in biosolids and agricultural soils where biosolids are applied in the region to understand their amount, types, and potential impact on soil health.
