Patterns of Sex Chromosome Evolution Across Primates

Semester: Fall 2025

Presentation description

Primates exhibit remarkable variation in sex chromosome systems. Many neotropical primate species have multiple sex chromosome systems with strong evidence suggesting these systems evolved independently of one another. To better understand sex chromosome variation, I compiled a database with information on sex chromosomes and karyotypic data of a hundred and twenty primate species. Then, I applied PCMs to this database in order to assess the rate and patterns of primate sex chromosome evolution
