Presentation description
The Drosophila pseudoobscura pseudoobscura (USA) and the Drosophila pseudoobscura bogotana (Bogota) subspecies are among two of the most recently diverged subspecies of Drosophila. Their recent divergence and incomplete reproductive isolation provides the unique opportunity to fully characterize a hybrid incompatibility system. This project aims to manipulate a gene responsible for hybrid incompatibility between the USA and Bogota subspecies of D. pseudoobscura.
