Girls Game Too: How Stereotypes, Representation, and Community Barriers Restrict Women in Gaming

Semester: Fall 2025

Presentation description

This research examines how gender stereotypes, limited representation, and unsafe online communities restrict women's full participation in gaming. Despite making up nearly half of all players, women face biased assumptions, harmful portrayals, and harassment that shape their experiences. The project argues that greater diversity and inclusion are essential for equitable and vibrant gaming cultures. Faculty Mentor:  Allison Segal, University of Utah Asia Campus Presentation slides
