Fecal Microbiota Transplant Increases Diversity and Decreases Pathobiont Carriage

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

Our research focuses on understanding microbial diversity changes following Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT). We used a metagenomic approach to study the differences in microbiota diversity between human subjects undergoing FMT and healthy controls. At day zero, FMT subjects showed a significant decrease in pathobiont diversity that was restored to healthy levels fourteen days post-transplantation. In conclusion, FMT restores the gut microbiota balance and its implications for clinical efficacy
