The main purpose of our study is to understand how age and viewing conditions (e.g., viewing duration) impact the relationship between eyewitness confidence and accuracy. Our findings challenge the claim of the confidence-accuracy relationship presented via the pristine condition's hypothesis. This brings into question the use of confidence as an assessor of accuracy, whether or not the conditions of the identification are 'pristine.
