The goal of this research project is to examine the spatial and temporal patterns of stream drying in the
mountain headwaters of the Red Butte Creek watershed, UT. Data were collected through the installation of twenty-five Stream Temperature, Intermittency, and Conductivity (STIC) sensors, placed throughout the three forks of the Red Butte Creek watershed. Analysis of raw data recorded by the STIC sensors was conducted in R, where temperature and conductivity measurements were used to interpret flow presence or absence at each sensor's location over time. Data collected from this project can be used to further develop our understanding of intermittent stream drying controls and help inform watershed management and downstream water users on processes impacting water quality and abundance in important headwater systems.
