Evaluation of Standard Clinical Measurements for the Pelvis Against Three-Dimensional Shape Variation Determined Using Statistical Shape Modeling

Semester: Spring 2026

Presentation description

This study evaluates how well standard radiographic measurements capture pelvic morphology in hip dysplasia. Using statistical shape modeling (SSM) on 3D pelvic meshes from 149 female participants, shape variation between dysplastic and control pelvises was analyzed. Results showed significant morphological differences and correlations with the Tönnis angle, demonstrating that SSM captures 3D anatomical variation beyond traditional 2D diagnostic measurements.
