Ethical Considerations Surrounding Xenotransplantation

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

My research critiques xenotransplantation-the use of animal organs for transplants-as a "cop-out" to addressing systemic issues in organ donation. I explore how breeding animals for organ harvesting reduces them to commodities, raising ethical concerns about scientific progress. I argue for shifting focus toward sustainable solutions, such as improving donor systems and advancing artificial organs, to address the root causes of organ shortages while promoting ethical innovation.
