Do Pregnant Women’s Electrodermal Responses to An Unfamiliar Infant Cry Video Predict Their Own Toddlers’ Socioemotional Outcomes?

Semester: Fall 2024

Presentation description

The current study aims to examine whether mothers' prenatal EDA responses to videos of unfamiliar infant cries predict their own children's behavioral competence at 18 months of age. The focal outcome of this study will be the Infant-Toddler Social and Emotional Assessment (ITSEA). Based on previous findings, I hypothesize that heightened maternal EDA response to an infant's crying video would predict behavioral problems in an infant, both internalizing and externalizing behaviors.
