Presentation description
Formaldehyde exposure as a component of indoor air pollution is one of the leading causes of lung cancer. In order to detect formaldehyde, a common sensor principle is electrochemistry. In this research, I have developed a hands on teaching module for students to build and test their own electrochemical sensors. The students are more broadly exposed to electrochemistry, sensors and circuits, and data analysis to gain a hands-on understanding of the engineering design cycle as a whole.
