Presentation description
Using spider venoms from the NPS collection, we developed an RNA-to-DNA barcoding pipeline to investigate spider identities for samples with limited identifying information. We extract mRNA, produce cDNA, and then amplify and sequence it. The resulting sequences allow us to assign putative spider identities to each venom. Using our pipeline, we have matched 49 venoms to putative spider species from our first 50 samples, facilitating further research into the venoms' bioactivity.
