Computational Analysis of C-type Inactivation in Voltage-Gated Potassium Channels

Semester: Spring 2026

Presentation description

This project computationally investigates how voltage changes across potassium channels and the W434F mutation in the Shaker Kv channel impacts ion conduction. Simulations are performed for wild-type Shaker under various ion concentrations, ion occupancies, and applied voltages to identify a protocol for quantifying the voltage drop. Comparison with the mutant indicates how voltage profiles adjust to changes in the selectivity filter, shedding light on W434F induced rapid c-type inactivation.
