Presentation description
For this project I took sedaDNA samples from a core acquired a sediment core that was taken from the Cerro Machin Wetland, located in Colombia. We took sedaDNA samples in a clean lab in Gardener Commons in order to provide a completely stearyl environment for them so avoid contamination from DNA floating around. I have also worked on completely subsampling the sediment core and taking additional subsamples form the same areas we took sedaDNA samples in order to run pollen analysis on it. From there we have been processing the 19 samples that we took and preparing them for counting. We are looking at the fungal remains in the samples. In order to take a look at this we used a new processing method and seem to have been successful. The counting is a work in progress that will continue into the fall semester.
