Presentation description
The Hedgehog (Hh) Signaling pathway is a crucial transduction of signals in cell growth, tissue & organ development, and differentiation. Misregulation in this pathway is known to lead to skeletal and cardiovascular abnormalities and defects, as well as several cancers. However, much of the pathway function is unknown and doesn’t fit known models. I am using bioluminescence resonance energy transfer, a cell-based assay, to detect protein-protein proximity and interactions to investigate specific pieces of our signal transduction model, as well as determining if other components amply/diminish the signal, to uncover how this pathway functions in vertebrae.
