Characterization of the Social, Cognitive, and Anxiety Phenotypes of the GRN R493X Model of Frontotemporal Dementia

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a leading cause of dementia in those under 60, marked by behavioral, executive, and language deficits. Behavioral variant FTD (bvFTD) includes disinhibition, apathy, and compulsions, linked to neuronal atrophy and Tau/TDP-43 accumulation. A GrnR493X knock-in mouse model mimics progranulin deficiency, but its behavioral effects remain unclear. This study explores memory, social interaction, and anxiety-like behaviors in this model over time.
