Ant Empire: Mathematical Modeling of Supercolonial Invasions

Semester: Spring 2025

Presentation description

This project aims to examine the mechanisms that allow invasive ants to succeed in new environments, with a focus on supercoloniality. This behavior is disproportionately represented in invasive ant species, and much of the work up until this point has been trying to identify commonalities to control their spread and prevent the extinction of native ant populations. Through modeling, we hope to explore these dynamics and contribute a deeper understanding of the success of supercolonial invasions
